10 RIIdiculously Awesome years
2019 marked our 10-year anniversary - or as we say, anniversaRII - as a company. Here’s a look back at some of the milestones along the way:

200-employee milestone
In late 2020, our 200th employee started work in our San Antonio, TX office. Due to the pandemic, we didn't memorialize the event in person, but our virtual happy hours allowed us to celebrate safely online.

2019 - 10 Year AnniversaRII
2019 was our 10 year anniversaRII - and we’re just getting started! We kicked the year off with a legendary party and brought employees and their families together to celebrate in Northern Virginia.

Nasdaq closing bell
Recognized twice by Deloitte as a Technology Fast 500 company, Rich Briggs and Jack Harrington joined the closing bell ceremony at Nasdaq in 2019 to represent RII.

RII win $40M contract to support the Information Environment
In 2019 we continued our artificial intelligence and machine learning work in the Information Environment, winning a $40M prime follow-on contract.

100-employee milestone
There are dozens of us! Dozens! In 2018 we surpassed 100 employees.

Cyber in Melbourne, FL
In 2018, RII originated its Cyber Solutions line of business and began work in Melbourne, Florida.

New VA headquarters opens
Location. Location. Location. In 2016, RII moved HQ to a metro-accessible LEED-certified office space complete with espresso machines, test labs, 3D printers, restaurant booths, a gaming lounge, standing desks, and a fully-stocked kitchen.

"RIIdiculously Awesome" coined
We love a good pun. We’ve got a dictionary dedicated to all the ways we can work “RII” into our eveRIIday vernacular. It seemed only fitting that our mantra incorporated both so we are always inspired to Be RIIdiculously Awesome.

O Canada: Our first international contract
2011's excitement continued as we won our first international contract, supporting the Canadian Forces Joint Warfare Center. We provided (and still provide) subject matter expertise in areas such as Joint Doctrine Development and Command & Control.

On the GRID: RII's first prime contract
In 2011 we won our first prime contract: GRIDS II (Geospatial Research, Integration, Development, and Support), a Multiple-Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) from the U.S. Department of Defense's Army Geospatial Center. In 2019, we were awarded the next instantiation of this program, GRIDS III, under which we will continue to provide cutting-edge solutions to AGC.

RII sends its first developer downrange
In 2011, RII deployed its first engineers to Afghanistan to live and work with our end-users. These acts underscored our commitment to grokking customer success and co-creating solutions.

TransApps: RII's first DARPA program
In 2010, RII received its first contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to support the Transformative Applications (TransApps) program. It allowed us to work directly with end-users and field operational capabilities rapidly.

2009 - RII founded
Armed with a laptop and a dream of impactful R&D, founder Rich Briggs made Research Innovations a reality in January 2009 when he incorporated the company in Virginia.
