It is again that time of year—Pi Day—in honor of the mathematical constant pi (π), and, indirectly, our blood sugar levels. At RII, we enjoyed the natural tension between new Raspberry Pi-tech shinies and the ever-present tasty pastry.
The Raspberry Pi is the "Swiss Army knife" of the engineering world. It’s a versatile, credit-card-sized computer that has revolutionized DIY tech and rapid prototyping. Whether it's powering a simple sensor or acting as the brain of a complex robot, these tiny boards represent the innovative spirit we celebrate at RII.
On the over-engineered tech front, our team showcased the versatility of the Pi with an impressive lineup of projects:
Self-contained video baby monitoring system
Automated watering and lighting control system for the garden
Dice-rolling clock
Smart-home garage door control integration
Attitude heading system
The Rasboozy Pi-tender, a system that locks a beer cabinet until you can answer era-specific questions based on your input age

On the flaky crust front, we had a full-spectrum of treats, with apple, blueberry, chocolate, peach praline, peanut butter, pecan, and the curious “game-time decision” pie. It was a good day, and we are 3.14% smarter and 100% ready for a nap as we await…next year.
