Research Innovations, Inc.’s (RII) CEO Jack Harrington Joins Ranks of
GMU’s Academy of Engineering and Computing Excellence Charter Class
This distinction recognizes considerable contributions in the field of engineering
ALEXANDRIA, Va. [April 7, 2025] — Research Innovations, Inc. (RII), a provider of critical national security technology solutions, today celebrates CEO Jack Harrington's induction into the Charter Class of the Academy of Engineering and Computing Excellence at George Mason University (GMU).
In honor of the 40th anniversary of the College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University, the University announced the creation of the Academy of Engineering and Computing Excellence. The Academy of Engineering and Computing Excellence will annually recognize individuals and organizations that profoundly impact the engineering and computing community at GMU. The Charter Member Class consists of the GMU Distinguished Alumni Award recipients from the past 20 years, including Harrington, the 2021 award winner.
"It is an honor to be inducted into the Academy of Engineering and Computing Excellence alongside my fellow GMU alumni who are making significant contributions to our field," said Jack Harrington, CEO of RII. "More than 35 years after graduating, I’m proud to remain connected to GMU’s top-tier engineering community, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to its spirit of innovation."
Prior to joining RII, Harrington served as Vice President of Cybersecurity and Special Missions at Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) and was the CEO of Thales Raytheon Systems. He also co-founded Virtual Technology Corporation (VTC) in 1994, leading the company as President/CEO until its acquisition by Raytheon in 2006. Harrington graduated from GMU with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
As a testament to Harrington's commitment to advancing GMU's growth, in 2021, he endowed a Dean's Fund for Excellence and Innovation with the Volgenau School of Engineering. The fund allows the dean to make strategic investments to help further the school’s growth, innovation, and student success. Furthermore, for over 10 years, Harrington has held a spot on GMU's College of Engineering and Computing advisory board.
